Buddy welcomes new VP of customer success

Written by David McLauchlan

Post hoc, ergo propter hoc. After it therefore because of it. It means one thing follows the other, therefore it was caused by the other. While this sounds good – and even better in Latin – it rarely plays out that correlation equals causation. In this case, however, we’re betting on the causal relationship between our customers and our success. In essence, Buddy’s success is caused by our customers.

In reality we know that there are many factors that determine our success, but it’s hard to dispute that without customers, our company cannot survive. Our insistent focus on customers goes beyond our ability to onboard new customers. It really is part of our overall strategy from the way we talk, to how we handle churn, to evolving our product roadmap. And it’s why we recently rounded out our Leadership Team by adding a Vice President of Customer Success.

We were looking for someone who, like us, is passionate about our customers, someone skilled at influence management internally and externally, and who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. We found all this and more in Travis Gerber. Over the past few months as Travis has gotten up to speed with Buddy, his passion has grown and his impact is already being felt by our team and our customers alike.

Travis comes to us most recently from Microsoft where he held several relevant senior, worldwide roles including Professional Services, Business Development and Customer Success. Being a small company, we rail against being bogged down in seemingly big company bureaucracy. Part of the value Travis brings to Buddy is in applying just the right amount of process to our methods. He confirms that our instincts are good and that a purposeful strategy to be more customer-centric is a great augmentation to how we work. Case in point, he’s already implementing a new customer support model that will help us focus on providing the right level of support for the right customer at the right time.

Please join me in welcoming Travis to Buddy’s global family!
