Richard Borenstein
Non-Executive Chairman

Based in San Francisco, Richard (Rick) Borenstein is a venture investor, advisor and board member with over 40 years of technology company experience. Rick brings extensive business, finance, accounting and entrepreneurial skills to Buddy Platform.

Rick grew up in New York City, and attended the University of Michigan before going to Harvard Business School. He has taught entrepreneurship at the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan and at San Quentin Prison (SF Bay Area) as part of The Last Mile program.

John van Ruth
Non-Executive Director

Based in Adelaide, John van Ruth has had an extensive career spanning a range of industries providing him with valuable experience and acumen in the fields of finance, IT and business strategy. He has held senior executive roles with Faulding, Adelaide Bank, RAA and Coopers Brewery Ltd. John’s early career spanned 20 years, where he was Senior Manager at KPMG and EY, and later, a Partner at Arthur Andersen.

John serves as a non-executive director on a range of not-for-profit and ASX listed. John holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from the University of South Australia.

Rosey Batt
Non-Executive Director

Based in Adelaide, Rosey is CEO of Rosey Batt & Associates, a private, professional organization providing legal and business services. She is a national and international facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors and also sits on a number of private, public and industry boards.

Rosey practiced law for over 30 years and holds a Masters in Science and Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin.

David McLauchlan,
CEO and Executive Director

David is the co-founder, CEO and Executive Director of Buddy Technologies. Before launching Buddy, David gained extensive international business experience, spending nearly 11 years at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, WA in the hardware, software and development teams. Prior to moving to the US, David was a management consultant for PwC in Australia. David holds a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering (Hons) from the University of South Australia.

Marc Alexander,
Chief Product & Technology Officer

Based in Melbourne, Australia, with regular presence in Silicon Valley, Taiwan, Singapore, UK and China, Marc is the Chief Product & Technology Officer and a co-founder of LIFX. Before launching LIFX, Marc held senior executive and technical positions dealing in consumer electronics and embedded products. He has extensive international experience using his entrepreneurial muscle to develop products for broad consumer markets and in leading technical teams to take advantage of major growth opportunities.

Stuart Usher
Company Secretary

Based in Perth, Stuart has over 20 year’s extensive experience in the management and corporate affairs of public listed companies. Stuart is a CPA, an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a member of ‘Chartered Secretaries Australia’.

Stuart has experience across a wide range of sectors, including Financial Services, Mineral Exploration, Healthcare, Biotech, Information Technology, Mining support services, Construction and Manufacturing. Stuart has worked in Australia, USA, UK, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Stuart holds an MBA from the University of Western Australia.
