Buddy Platform CEO Dave McLauchlan has joined forces with City of Adelaide CIO Peter Auhl to submit a panel idea to next year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Panel ideas are now open to the public for voting, so please cast your vote here.

SXSW is a unique series of festivals focused on film, music, media and technology held annually in March in Austin, Texas. For the first time, SXSW will include a Cities Summit next year, which will explore the challenges and opportunities for the cities of tomorrow.

If selected to speak at the Cities Summit, Dave and Peter will explore how you strip away the substance and impact from the smart cities hype to solve real problems and to create measurable value.

Using practical examples from Austin’s sister city in South Australia, Adelaide, the presentation will demonstrate the benefit and potential of a real smart city in action. This is a great opportunity to put Adelaide on the global stage as a leading smart city!

For Buddy, this is also a terrific opportunity to demonstrate the power of Buddy Ohm and Buddy Cloud within the context of a city’s smart strategy. Given a staggering 40% of the world’s carbon footprint is derived from buildings, the Buddy Ohm service can make a real impact on helping city leaders save money and reduce carbon emissions.

Voting closes on August 25th 2017.
